Abstract

The invention relates to a nozzle-type coating device for applying coating material to a moving paper web (9), having a nozzle space (3) which extends beyond the width of the web and is bounded on the incoming side of the web (1) by an overflow strip (4) and on the outgoing side of the web (1) by a metering strip (5) with a distribution pipe (6) which distributes the coating material over the width of the web, having a feed channel (7) for feeding excess coating material from the distribution pipe (6) to the nozzle space (3) and having a diverting channel (8) for leading away excess from the nozzle space (3). The invention is characterised by the combination of the following features: (a) the diverting channel (8) opens on that side of the coating device on which the paper web runs in (b) the run-off channel is connected to an overflow channel (9) which simultaneously collects the overflow of the overflow strip (4); (c) a device (11) for compensating deflection (compensation device) is provided which extends over the entire width of the web, having a fixed yoke (12), a sheath (13) which surrounds said yoke (12) and can be moved in the direction of the paper web and having adjustable pressure transmission elements (13); (d) a flow body (16) is provided around which coating material flows; (e) the distribution pipe (6), flow body (16) and compensation device (11) elements are arranged one behind the other viewed from the side and in the running direction of the web. <IMAGE>
