Abstract

These documents describe three versions of a sauna unit which functions in accordance with an entirely novel principle since the heat for the sauna is obtained via the floor, with the steam flowing upwards from below, in contrast to the traditional unit in which the heat flows directly upwards. These units have a closed top part which is fitted with a funnel 3 by means of which the water which has been poured is conducted via pipes 2. The pipes have been provided with nozzles which distribute and spread the water uniformly over the heated stones, and the resulting heat is conducted, by inherent pressure, down via the channel 4 and is then spread uniformly over the whole of the sauna from below and upwards. The construction of the sauna unit exerts an effect on the quality of the resulting heat in three ways: 1. The closed top part prevents dry air circulating in the sauna. 2. The flow of heat, which rises from below and upwards, equalises the temperature in the sauna such that the heat is spread uniformly over the whole of the sauna down from the floor right up to the ceiling. 3. This construction eliminates the blasts of hot air which occur in conventional sauna units. The advantage of the insulated unit (drawing 2) is additionally that it can be heated for relatively long periods, even continuously, without there being any great loss of heat. <IMAGE>
