Abstract

Disk cutter for cross-cutting wood. In the annular frame 1 thereof, fig. 1, a feed table 2 has been fixed, which guides the wood 4 that is to be cross-cut. At both edges of the rectangular opening 6 in the frame 1, guides 5 have been produced, which guide the movement of the disk blade 3 by means of hydraulic cylinders 7 and 8 over a distance shown by the arrow A. The disk blade 3 has been made from two virtually identical plates 9 and 10, between which freely rotating cutting disks 10 and 14 have been supported by means of pins 11 and 12. The cutting disks are of thin construction, the material is high-strength steel, and from the outer frame they have been made to narrow conically. They have been suitably sharpened and the distance between the plates 9 and 10 has been suitably allowed so that the free outer part together with the part 5 forms a sufficiently precise guide for guiding the movement of the disk blade. The inner surfaces of the plates guide cutting disks 13 and 14 in an axial direction. A wedge 15 has also been provided for the disk blade. Whilst the disk blade 3 goes down and the cutting disks 13 and 14 cut the wood 4 that is to be cross-cut, the wedge 15 penetrates into the cleavable wood, splits it and at the same time brings halve pieces in a horizontal direction to the cutting disks 13 and 14.
