Abstract

In order to receive cyclically repeated teletext data, the latter are separated from the television signal, the data belonging to a teletext page are collected and the teletext pages which are combined to form 100-page magazines are placed in a buffer store. Here a base TOP table transmitted as a separate teletext page indicates which teletext pages have actually been transmitted. Depending on the evaluation of the base TOP table, a desired teletext page is sought only if its existence is indicated by the base TOP table. If two or more magazines are transmitted in parallel as separate cycles in the same television signal, an additional list is evaluated which is contained in the base TOP table of a magazine having such a table. This additional list gives in coded form the number and serial numbering of the maximum possible magazines and their mutual association, with any shared base TOP table. The list is evaluated by establishing how many magazines can be received at a given time and whether, and which, magazines are included in a shared base TOP table.
