Abstract

In a process for producing flexible, rollable laminate material, there are an intermediate layer 2 of plastic and, on opposite sides thereof, laminated surface layers 1, 3, which remain constant at the softening temperature of the material of the intermediate layer 2. The laminate material is formed by joining together at their longitudinal edges 4a two or more elongated laminate webs 4 containing the corresponding layers. In order to effect the said joining, the two mutually adjacent webs 4 have in an edge zone 4a of specific width lesser thickness than in the middle section of the web owing to the fact that one of the surface layers 3 does not extend to the outermost edge of the web. The joining is effected such that those surfaces of the edge zones 4a which are visible close to the two surface layers 3 are placed opposite each other and heat-joined together with the aid of the material of the intermediate layer 2, which is present on both the surfaces in the edge zone. In laminate webs, the one of the outer layers 3 which does not extend as far as the outermost edge of the web is thicker than the surface layer 1 which is present on the opposite side and extends as far as the edge. <IMAGE>
