Abstract

The invention relates to a new and simple method for production of quinolinecarboxylic acid derivatives with the general formula I <IMAGE> and also hydrates and therapeutically acceptable salts thereof. The substituents in the formula have the following meaning: R is a hydrogen atom or a formyl group; R1 is a hydrogen atom or a straight-chain or cyclic alkyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms and if necessary substituted with a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom or an amino group; or it is a CH3-NH group; R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms. According to the invention, the compound with the general formula II <IMAGE> or an acid addition salt thereof is converted with piperazine into dimethylformamide and - if desirable - the compound so obtained with the general formula <IMAGE> is subjected to acid or alkaline treatment, or reacted with advantage with hydrazine or preferably with hydrazine hydrate.
