Abstract

The invention concerns a procedure and an arrangement for melting the ice in a road culvert. This is effected by means of a heating medium passing through the road culvert 1 in a melting pipe 2 so that an arrangement placed at one end of the melting pipe produces a suction effect which, from a heating space 3 arranged at the other end of the melting pipe, draws air heated by the sun's rays through the melting pipe to the suction arrangement 4 and further out. In the arrangement according to the invention, there is a melting pipe 2 passing through the culvert 1, and a heating-medium source 3 connected to one end of this pipe, from which source the heating medium makes its way through the culvert via the melting pipe. According to the invention, the heating-medium source comprises a heating space 3 which stores the sun's radiant heat and is connected to the outside air, to which also one end of the melting pipe 2 going through the culvert is connected, while the other end is connected to the arrangement 4 which produces the suction in the melting pipe, i.e. a flow of heated air. According to the invention, by utilizing solar and wind energy, and with small equipment investment and insignificant maintenance and operational costs, a procedure operating with natural forces, and an arrangement for same, can be offered for the deicing of road culverts. <IMAGE>
