A sea mark comprising one or more plane surfaces and intended to be observable by seafarers, which sea mark is characterized by the combination of the said surfaces 2,3,4 being provided with fluorescent paint which, when exposed to ultraviolet light, transmits light of visible wavelength and that a lighting device 7,8 is arranged to illuminate the said surfaces 2,3,4 with light containing a high ultraviolet light component. <IMAGE>
