In order to effectively dampen unwanted impact force from the anvil (1) to the frame (2) so that the service interval and service life of the impact device will be long, as well as to improve the effectiveness and functional safety of the impact device and facilitate its service, the frame (2) is attached to the anvil (1) by an elongated suspension element (7); the impact device comprises a spring unit (9) which connects the suspension element (7) to the frame (2) flexibly so that the frame (2) can move in the longitudinal direction of the suspension element (7); the hammer device has an end facing the anvil (1), and the device comprises means for holding an assembly formed by the end facing the hammer unit towards the anvil (1), the spring (6) and the anvil (1) free of play during compression.
