CONSISTE EN HACER REACCIONAR UN OXIDO DE ALQUILENO CON UN INICIADOR TAL COMO DIETILENGLICOL, GLICEROL, SACAROSA O AGUA, EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR PARA FORMAR, COMO PRIMER COMPONENTE, UN POLIMERO DE POLI(OXIDO DE ALQUILENO) SOLIDO, EN DONDE EL POLIMERO ES ESENCIALMENTE NO TOXICO, NO DIGESTIBLE, SOLUBLE EN AGUA Y PROPORCIONA UN CARACTER SOLIDO A LA COMPOSICION; ENTREMEZCLAR, COMO SEGUNDO COMPONENTE, UN SUSTITUTIVO DEL AZUCAR DE BAJO CONTENIDO DE CALORIAS; Y TENER PRESENTE EL PRIMER COMPONENTE PARA PROPORCIONAR PROPIEDADES DE PLENITUD VOLUMICA A LA COMPOSICION.
