Abstract

A firebox for solid fuels with continuous fuel supply, in particular an independent firebox for billet wood and gas coal, with a loading chamber (12) which is accessible through a loading chamber door (13), a grate (15), a waste gas passage (19) and, adjacent thereto, a waste gas/air and/or waste gas/water heat exchanger (23), is designed in such a manner that the loading chamber has the shape of an elongate cuboid, the long central axis of which runs essentially horizontally, the loading chamber door being arranged in one of the vertical long-side walls. In the loading chamber, a fuel supply device (29, 30) is accommodated, the supply direction of which is directed towards one of the two vertical end walls of the loading chamber, there being provided, adjacent to this one loading chamber end wall, in the loading chamber floor, an opening for the grate and, in the loading chamber roof, an opening forming the waste gas passage. The waste gas passage has in this connection secondary air openings (25) and opens into a secondary combustion chamber, the outlet of which leads to the heat exchanger.
