Abstract

Integral seating components usually consist of a core bonded to a plastics cover which serves as a skin for the cover. The invention allows a wide range of fabrics to be used as covers in integral seating components by including a vacuum-forming method in which a cover member is attached across the mouth of the cavity of a deep-draw female vacuum mould, pressure is applied to the cover member to deform and stretch it outwardly relative to the mould cavity (Fig. 2), and then a vacuum is applied to the mould whereby the cover member is drawn into contact with the mould cavity.
