SE EFECTUA UNA DESHIDRATACION OXIDATIVA DE ACIDO ISOBUTIRICO EN LA FASE VAPOR A TEMPERATURAS POR ENCIMA DE 300 C EN UN CATALIZADOR EN BASE A LOS ELEMENTOS MOLIBDENO, VANADIO, FOSFORO Y OXIGENO. SE EMPLEA UN CATALIZADOR OBTENIDO POR IMPREGNACION DE UN SOPORTE CON UNA POROSIDAD DE 10 A 80% Y UNA SUPERFICIE INTERIOR POR DEBAJO DE 1 QM/G CON UNA SOLUCION ACUOSA HOMOGENEA DE LOS COMPONENTES ACTIVOS DEL CATALIZADOR. EL CATALIZADOR CONTIENE PREDOMINANTEMENTE CARBURO DE SILICIO.
