Abstract

A reactor system for the process has an endothermic cracking zone (6, 7) and an exothermic regeneration zone (13), heat exchange between these two zones being carried out not only via the catalyst circulation stream (5, 6, 11) but also by passing the fresh batch (1) through heat exchange loops (16) arranged in the regeneration zone (13), before the fresh batch comes into contact with the hot regenerated catalyst in a lift pot (4) and passes into the reaction zone (6, 7). The temperature in the regeneration zone is maintained in this manner at a value below 725 DEG C, while the batch is preheated to a temperature of at least 200 DEG C, preferably to 325 DEG C to 400 DEG C. By this means, heavy batches and batches with high metal contents can be processed.
