Abstract
The transducer is of the kind comprising a hollow cylindrical former (10) within which in use is mounted a movable core (11) and winding device (12) carried about the former. The winding comprises two inter-engaged helical windings, each winding having a number of turns which are disposed in axial side by side relationship. The connection of the windings is arranged so that the direction of current flow in one winding is opposite to the direction of current flow in the other winding. The winding device is formed using printed circuit techniques on a strip of flexible insulating material which is then wound in helical fashion about the hollow former and stuck to it. The coil which forms the windings has side portions (13,14) extending adjacent the sides of the strip and the conductors forming the side portions are interconnected by end portions (15,16).
