Abstract
The air cooler consists of an air inlet duct (1) housing an evaporator heat exchanger (2). The inner tube is porous and is maintained in a wetted condition by a valve (10) and a water reservoir (5). The central tube of the evaporator is in series with the refrigerant circuit (6). Air evaporates the water in the evaporator-heat exchanger and cools the refrigerant, at the same time becoming humidified. The air then passes over a refrigerant pre-cooler (9) before entering the enclosure (40) to be cooled. The cooled air entering the enclosure consists of fresh air (8), recirculated air (7) or humidified air (8A).
