Abstract

The autoclave is fed with coal and liq. hydrocarbons in containers and the capacity and pressure of the autoclave can be very large if required. The body of the autoclave consists of several concentric conical tubes which nest in each other. The narrow end of each tube is pref. provided with an internal flange whereas the wide end of tube has an external flange. The neck of the autoclave is pref. located on flanges via an internal flange and an external thread on the neck isused to locate a domed lid. The hydrocarbons are made by the reaction of coal with hydrocarbons rich in H2, or with H2.
