Abstract
Method of mfg. of fibres of thermoplastics materials from a flow of melt moving with a rotating disc attached to a peripheral strip comprising a large number of small orifices strong which leave small filaments of the molten material expelled by the velocity of the rotating disc is described. A circular current of velocity attenuation gas passes over the filament to produce increase and decrease of dia. simultaneously. At this moment these filaments solidify breaking into pieces of variable length in order to produce a circular curtain of fibres falling vertically, which dessend and land on a transporter belt. Specifically, the melt is heated by means of a gas burner and a second burner is arranged to heat the inside of the disc by providing elements operated by a velocity motor controllable by being driven in molten about an axis mounted a bearings fixed to the disc in a zone which forms a truncated cone, so that it can be displaced eccentrically wrt. it. Fibres of more uniform dia. can be achieved control of dia. being effected by control of viscosity by the second heater.
