Abstract
The train monitoring system is used to provide automatic confirmation that the last wagon or carriage has passed over a specific section of track. A train (2) carries two transmitters one at the front end (S1) of the engine and one located on the last carriage (S2). Detectors are located at specific intervals along the track (BS). All detectors are coupled to local control units (AE1, AE2) that are cable connected to a switching station (ST). In operation the leading transmitter outputs an identifying code for the train and the assigned control unit has to receive a signal from the trailing carriage transmitter within a specific period. Additional detectors (AD1, AD2) of an inductive type generate outputs of the train stops within the control section.
