Abstract

Compuestos prostanoides. Las prostaglandinas son una clase de derivados de ciclopentano presentes en la naturaleza que son biológicamente activos en muchos sistemas fisiológicos, y ellos y las sustancias que antafonizan sus efectos tienen, por tanto, considerable interés en medicina tanto humana como veterinaria. Las prostaglandinas se pueden considerar, en general, como derivados formados del ácido prostanoico, que tiene la estructura: **(fórmula)** la cadena secundaria en posición 8 se denomina a veces cadena secundaria en alfa, y la cadena secundaria en posición 12 cadena secundaria en beta. En las prostaglandinas naturales, el anillo de ciclopentano lleva sustituyentes oxo y/o hidroxilo, y también puede tener un doble enlace.
