Abstract

Process for cleaning surfaces polluted by hydrocarbons, greases, oils and similar materials, comprising spraying on the polluted surface at least one surface-active agent having a hydrophile/lipophile ratio of at most 12, in the form of a solution or emulsion in a polar or non-polar liquid, the solubility of said agent being peferably lower than 10g/liter, and at least one inorganic silicate powder such as clay, bentonite, talc, montmorillonite, kaolinite and/or sepiolite. The process is suitable for the treatment of sea or fresh water and natural or artificial soils.
