Abstract
El procedimiento de esta invención proporciona un método simple en dos etapas para preparar las mercaptidas de metales alcalinotérreos deseados útiles como sinergistas para estabilizadores de organoestaño. El procedimiento proporciona excelentes rendimientos con economías sustanciales sobre otros métodos actualmente conocidos. En la primera etapa, se forma un alcóxido , M(OR1)2 por una de las reacciones siguientes.**fórmula** en las que M1 es Mg, Al ó Ca; M es Ca, Sr ó Ba, R1 es un radical de hidrocarburo que tiene de 1 a 20 átomos de carbono y se selecciona del grupo constituido por alcohilo, cicloalcohilo, o aralcohilo, opcionalmente sustituido con grupos inertes que no interfieren tales como halógeno y alcoxi, y, x es igual a la valencia de M1. En la segunda etapa, se produce la mercaptida del metal deseado de acuerdo con la reacción. **fórmula** en la que :R es un radical de hidrocarburo que tiene de 1 a 22 átomos de carbono y se selecciona del grupo constituido por alcohilo, cicloalcohilo, arilo y alcohirarilo mixto, pudiendo tener opcionalmente dichos raciales de hidrocarburo un sustituyente que no interfiere seleccionado del grupo constituido por halógeno, -XH-XR2, **fórmula**, dónde R2 es un radical de hidrocarburo que tiene de 1 a 20 átomos de carbono y se selecciona del grupo constituido por alcohilo, alquenilo, cichoalcohilo, arilo y alcohilarilo mixto con la condición de que R2 puede estar sustituido adicionalmente con sustituyente inerte y X e Y se seleccionan independientemente del grupo constituido por oxígeno y azufre. El alcóxido de partida M1(OR1)X se puede preparar facilmente por cierto número de método conocidos. Veáse Bradley, "progress in Inorganic Chemistry", Vol. 2, ya citado en "Antecedentes de la Invención," arriba. El procedimiento de esta invención se define como un procedimiento para preparar mercaptidas de metales alcalinotérreos de la fórmula general M(SR)2, donde M se selecciona del grupo constituido por bario, estroncio, y calcio, y R es un radical de hidrocarburo que tiene de 1 a 22 átomos de carbono y se selecciona del grupo constituido por alcohilo, cicloalcohilo, arilo y alcohilarilo mixto, pudiendo tener opcionalmente dicho radicales de hidrocarburo un sustituyente que no interfiere seleccionada del grupo constituido por halógeno -XH,XR2, **fórmula** donde R2 es un radical de hidrocarburo que tiene de 1 a 20 átomos de carbono y se selecciona del grupo constituido por alcohilo, alquenilo, cicloalcohilo, arilo y alcohilarilo mixto con la condición de que T2 puede estar sustituido adicionalmente con sustituyente inertes y X e Y se seleccionan independientemente del grupo constituido por oxígeno y azufre, que comprende: (1) formar una mezcla de reacción de (a) un alcóxido metálico de la fórmula genera M1(OR1)x, en la que M1 se selecciona del grupo constituido por magnesio, aluminio o calcio con la condición de que cuando M1 es calcio ;M es bario o estroncio; R1 es un radical de hidrocarburo que tiene de 1 a 20 átomos de carbono y se selecciona del grupo constituido por alcohilo, cicloalcohilo o aralcohilo con la condición de que el radical de hidrocarburo puede estar sustituido con sustituyentes inertes o que no interfieren; y x es un número igual a la valencia de M1, y (b) un óxido o hidróxido metálico de la fórmula MO ó M(OH)2, en las que M se selecciona del grupo constituido por bario, estroncio o calcio; y (c) un alcohol de la fórmula general R1OH en la que R1 es como se ha definido arriba; (2) someter la mezcla de reaccion de (1) a condiciones de reacción que incluyen calentar la mezcla durante un tiempo suficiente para proporcionar M1(OH)x y un alcóxido metálico de la fórmula general M(OR1)2; (3) formar una mezcla de reacción de (a) el alcóxido metálico M(OR1)2 de la etapa (2), y (b) un mercaptano de la fórmula general RSH, en la que R es como se define arriba; (4) someter la mezcla de (3) a condiciones de reacción que proporcionan la mercaptida del metal alcalinotérreo de la fórmula general M(SR)2; y posteriormente (5) separar la mercaptida del metal M(SR)2 de la mezcla de la etapa (4). Es preferible , que el alcohol, R1OH que interviene en la reacción III anteriormente citada esté presente en un exceso molar para servir como disolvente para la reacción, En la reacción IV anterior el alcohol sirve solamenbte como disolvente. Se prefiere que R1 se seleccione del grupo arriba indicado a fin de proporcionar un alcóxido M(OR1)x que es más soluble que el hidróxido M1(OH)x en la mezcla de la etapa (2), para facilitar la separación del alcóxido M(OR1)x de la mezcla, en el supuesto de que el alcoxido se aisle de la mezcla antes del comiento de la etapa 3, En la etapa (2) anterior, la mezcla de reacción se calienta preferiblemente a la temperatura del punto de ebullición del alcohol R1OH durante un tiempo suficiente para completa sustancialmente la reacción. Se prefiere que M sea bario o calcio, mientras que son preferibles magnesio o alumino para M1.R1 es preferiblemente un grupo alcohilo de 1 a8 átomos de carbono que puede estar sustituido opcionalmente con sustituyentes inertes o que no interfieren. Después de la etapa (2) anterior, se prefiere separa el alcóxido M(OR1)2 de la mezcla de la etapa (2) antes de formar la mezcla de reacción de la etapa (3).
