Abstract

Mejoras en un procedimiento y un aparato para controlar los óxidos de nitrógeno en los gases de escape de un equipo de combustión, comprendiendo el procedimiento la reacción de descomposición de los óxidos, en presencia de oxígeno, con amoníaco inyectado en dicho equipo y en los conductos asociados a temperaturas comprendidas entre 700 y 1300ºC .cuya mejora consiste en disponer un sistema catalítico con las superficies catalíticas de las unidades componentes prácticamente paralelas a la dirección de flujo del gas, en una región donde la temperatura del gas después del tratamiento de descomposición está comprendida entre 300 y 500ºC, de manera que dicho gas, después del tratamiento de descomposición, pueda atravesar el sistema catalítico, y opcionalmente introducir un suministro adicional de amoniaco, en una proporción de 0,5 a 1, 5 moles por mol de óxido de nitrógeno en dicho gas, en el espacio inmediatamente anterior al sistema catalítico, acelerando así la descomposición de los óxidos contenidos en el gas a sustancias inofensivas.
