Abstract
A control circuit is used for a battery driven electric motor. It is designed to give efficient regenerative braking, the motor has its field winding (12) and its armature (10) connected in series with the battery (14). Directional contacts (20) are used to reverse the armature current and thus change the sense of rotation of the motor. The regenerative braking is achieved by a control network (22) which regulates the field current. The system is designed for use in an electric vehicle and is controlled by a variable resistor (26) connected to an accelerator pedal, this resistor is connected to a circuit (24) controlling the ignition of the main thyristor (18).
