Abstract

The equipment comprises a circular activation basin with a slightly conical floor, in which is a concentric after-clarification vessel clear of the floor. this has a discharge trough near the water surface, and a conical base with a sludge extraction device. An air circulation and ventilation system has an intake pipe connected to the centre of the basin floor, and discharges into the basin from the top. The sludge extraction device comprises one or more sludge return pipes connected to the apex of the vessel base cone, and with a by-pass to the air system intake pipe, together with a flow-measuring device and an adjustable throttle.
