Abstract
The device has a heat exchanger (5) which can be connected to an exhaust gas discharge flue and to which the service medium to be heated can be applied. The said heat exchanger has on the discharge side an inlet chamber (12) and an outlet chamber (13) arranged adjacent thereto. The two chambers are connected to one another via a heating flue, which has a feed section (16) to which service medium can be applied from the inlet chamber (12) and which opens into a mixing chamber (18), and the return section (17) to which service medium can be applied from the mixing chamber (18) and which opens into the outlet chamber (13). Arranging the inlet and outlet chambers in juxtaposition makes it possible to control the guidance of the exhaust gas in a simple way. Temperature equalisation can take place in the mixing chamber (18) between the differently cooled gas streams, so that effective thermal transfer is facilitated and there is no need to fear the formation of condensate even in the region of the return section. The device can be designed both for storage operation and for continuous operation.
