Abstract

Un método para determinar la calidad de un mineral de uranio, que comprende las etapas de: (a) irradiar una concentración conocida de uranio con una fuente continua o permanente de neutrones rápidos, (b) determinar la razón o cociente de neutrones epitérmicos respecto a térmicos en dicha concentración conocida de uranio, en respuesta a la irradiación de la etapa (a); (c) irradiar una concentración desconocida de uranio con una fuente continua o permanente de neutrones rápidos; (d) determinar la razón o cociente de neutrones epitérmicos respecto a térmicos en dicha concentración desconocida de uranio, en respuesta a la irradiación de la etapa (c); (e) irradiar dicha concentración desconocida de uranio con ráfagas repetitivas de neutrones rápidos; (f) determinar la razón o cociente de neutrones epitérmicos respecto a térmicos en dicha concentración desconocida de uranio, en respuesta a la irradiación de la etapa (e), durante el período o intervalo de tiempo en que se están produciendo neutrones inmediatos procedentes de la fisión por neutrones de dicha concentración desconocida de uranio; y (g) comparar las razones determinadas en las etapas (b), (d) y (f), como indicación de la calidad de mineral de dicha concentración desconocida de uranio.
