Abstract

Perfection in toy vehicles, of the type comprising a frame; a pair of selectively driven and laterally spaced drive wheels, mounted on the vehicle in a laterally spaced relation to each other, for its independent rotation movement in vertical planes; a reversible rotary motor in said frame; a drive gear connected to said motor for rotation thereof; and a gear train in the frame operatively coupled with the drive gear to selectively drive one of the drive wheels in response to the direction of rotation of the drive gear; characterized in that the gear train includes a gear movably mounted on the frame for movement between a first and a second position in response to the direction of rotation of the driving gear, to selectively drive one of the driving wheels in the forward direction of the vehicle in said first position and the other driving wheel in the direction of advancement in the second position, while the wheels remain free; the first and second driving gears, respectively, being directly operatively coupled with the drive wheels and being located in the frame for selective engagement with the gear movably mounted in the first and second positions thereof respectively; a gear carrier in the vehicle between the rear wheels is rotatably mounted on an axis generally located in longitudinal alignment with the axis of rotation of the drive gear, the gear, movably mounted on the support, being mounted in operative engagement with the drive gear, so that the support frame rotates in response to the rotation of the drive gear, to engage the movable gear with one or the other of the driving gears, to thereby selectively drive the drive wheels in the vehicle's forward direction while the wheels without action are free.
