Abstract

Un aparato para la refinación de metal en fusión, caracterizado por comprender, en combinación: (a) un recipiente adaptado para mantener metal en estado de fusión, que incluye en combinación: un cuerpo cilíndrico refractario aislante que tiene paredes laterales y una pared de base, y que es impermeable al metal en fusión; un revestimiento para una proporción principal de aquella superficie interior de dichas paredes laterales y la pared de base, que estará debajo de la superficie de la masa en fusión, comprendiendo dicho revestimiento bloques de grafito o carburo de silicio, estando dichos bloques posicionados de manera que dichos bloques estarán en contacto con la masa en fusión, y siendo libres para dilatarse en, por lo menos, dos direcciones en respuesta a la aplicación de calor.
