Abstract

A packing machine, which wraps delicate articles such as foodstuff with plastics foil, moves the boxed goods along a horizontal track. Two endless chains, located on either side of the box supply track, are provided with equally-spaced clamping fingers. The clamping fingers are used to grip the leading end of the cellophane supply roll and pull it above and along the moving box. When the required length of foil is drawn of the roll, a rotary cutter cuts off a panel. The moving clamping fingers on either side of the box are controlled by endless cam tracks. Thus they are able to wrap the foil around the box, whilst the box is moving.
