Abstract
The process comprises forming an aq. slurry of the cpds. and extracting the slurry with an organic soln. contg. an alkyl phosphoric acid. The organic extract, after sepn., is extracted to form an electrolyte used for the electrodeposition of Zn. The organic soln. pref. contains an alkyl phosphoric acid of mol. wt. >200, specifically di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid, and a water-immiscible diluent such as a hydrocarbon mixt. w.g. kerosene or gas-oil. The concn. of alkyl phosphoric acid cpd. is pref. 5-50%. The zinc cpds. are pref. in the form of an oxide, hydroxide or carbonate. The material for extract ion is pref. obtd. by roasting concentrates in which the Zn is in sulphide form.
