Abstract

A method of measuring the influence of an antimicrobial agent on a growing microorganism, which involves cultivating a microorganism in a liquid culture medium that is in contact with a measurement electrode and a reference electrode that are conductively linked to a potentiometer. high impedance having an input impedance of 107 to 1010 ohms, in which growing bacteria gradually accumulate around said measurement electrode thus forming a charge interaction between said measurement electrode and said accumulated microorganism, achieving a response at a stable baseline of said potentiometer before reaching the minimum detectable concentration of said microorganism, subjecting said microorganisms to an antimicrobial agent, and checking the change in potential between said electrodes as a result of the influence of said antimicrobial agent on said microorganism.
