Abstract
Thermal switch apparatus including a pair of electrically conductive wire elements arranged side by side and having free ends extending generally in the same direction forming said switch sections and said sections of wire terminals, including the cross section of switch a localized contact region constituting an electrical conductive circuit between the elements of the wire, including at least one of said wire elements in the switch section, an elastic device that orients the contact regions and the adjacent portions of the pair of wire elements in opposite directions relative to each other, the free ends being, the contact region and at least a portion of the elastic device encapsulated in a non-conductive hot melt material, the conducting wires being held against the elastic orientation force, in electrical contact the one with the other by means of the encapsulation material, the non-conductive thermofusible material and the portions of the conductive wire adjacent to the elastic device extending outside the encapsulated material uniformly coated with a rigid insulating material to completely encapsulate the hot melt material and separate and electrically isolating from each other, the protruding wire end sections, whereby the wires of the encapsulated switch section can be elastically separated from one another by interrupting the contract between them in the contact region when the hot melt material is subjected to a predetermined temperature level that produces its fusion and the release of the energy stored in the elastic device.
