Procedure for the obtaining of crystalline escin from the seeds of aesculus hippocastanum, characterized by extracting shredded seeds of aesculus hippocastanum with organic solvents miscible with water, mainly alcohols, putting the extraction liquids obtained in contact with a cation exchanger in h form, the resulting eluate is concentrated by distillation, after removing the cation exchanger, treating the eluate with water, separating by filtration or centrifugation the crystalline precipitate originated and eventually converting the obtained scinic acid, with a pharmacologically compatible base, into the corresponding salt.
