Abstract

A method of bonding a dental porcelain to a metal core of a dental restoration, consisting of: 1) applying to a clean metal core an essentially uniform coating of an adhesive agent composition comprising: a) a joint-forming component consisting of sprayed aluminum mixed with sprayed glass that melts at temperatures between approximately 1750 and 1850º F (954 and 1010ºC) and consisting of the following oxides in the approximate percentages by weight given: 47-74-% silicon dioxide, 1-16% aluminum oxide, 3-17% sodium oxide, 0.6-6 % calcium oxide and 0.4-4% magnesium oxide and optionally 0-12% potassium oxide, 0.23 stannic oxide, 0.5% lithium oxide, 0-2% boron oxide and 0-2% baric oxide and (b) a carrier component consisting of an organosilicon compound capable of providing a reducing atmosphere at temperatures between 1200 and 1900ºF (649 and 1037ºC approximately; 2) firing the coated metal core by heating it rapidly from a temperature of about 1200ºF (649ºC) to a maximum temperature of approximately between 1800 and 1900ºFP (982 and 1037ºC); 3) clean coated and cooked surfaces and 4) apply porcelain to the coated surface and cook.
