Abstract

Zinc ore leaching residues are treated, to recover lead and precious metals such as silver, with sulphuric acid at a concn. of 120-200 g/l and 95 degrees C for 4-8 hrs. to obt. a final acidity of 110-120g/l, and the remaining solid is removed and washed, suspended as a pulp in water at pH 1-5 and a collector of sulphides and a non-ionic org. collector are added. The pulp is then flotated to separate a concentrate contg. sulphides, silver and lead sulphate. Process avoids production of iron jarosites in the pulp prior to removal of the by-prods.).
