Abstract

An improved drive mechanism for disk storage apparatus, comprising a flat conductive coil on an insulating sheet substrate pivoted to allow movement in the plane of the substrate, a record and playback head assembly mounted on the substrate, a magnetic assembly positioned relative to the substrate so that current through the coil causes movement of the substrate around the pivot point, and a control circuit to control the magnitude and direction of the current fed to the coil.
