Abstract

A process for the preparation of an antiperspirant composition comprising a water soluble complex of an aluminum basic compound, a zirconium compound selected from zirconium oxysalts, zirconium hydroxysalts and mixtures thereof, and trace amounts of an alkali metal salt Terreo selected from magnesium, calcium and mixtures thereof, said compounds being present in amounts such that the Al/Zr molar ratio is approximately between 10: 1 and 1:10, and optionally, said complex contains aluminum chloride and a buffer compound, the procedure of which is to react, in an aqueous solution, a basic aluminum compound, a zirconium compound selected from zirconium oxysalts, zirconium hydroxysalts and mixtures thereof, trace amounts of a salt of a selected alkaline earth metal between magnesium, calcium and mixtures thereof, said compounds being present in amounts such that the Al/Zr molar ratio is approximately between 10: 1 and 1:10, and where appropriate, the aluminum chloride and the buffer compound, adding the various components one by one and with sufficient time, heating and stirring, to allow the reaction of the salts to form the new complexes of this invention.
