Process for the preparation of compositions of dyes and optical lighteners that are essentially poor in dispersant, stable, highly concentrated, finally dispersed and fluent, suitable for dyeing or printing or optically lightening textile materials, especially polyester, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, cellulose acetate and triacetate, by the aqueous extraction method and particularly applicable to polyester materials by the aqueous thermal bonding method, and also suitable for forming printing pastes for printing or stamping support materials, in particular paper, for transfer printing, characterized in that, in its implementation, a composition is constituted consisting of at least 10% by weight of water, at least 30% by weight of a dye or optical clarifier insoluble in water until hardly soluble in it, and a composition consisting of at most 10% by weight of an anionic dispersant, 5% by weight at at most a non-ionogenic dispersant and at most 35% by weight of a hydrotropic agent, as well as other additives, if the aforementioned dye or optical lightener is ground in water, with the addition of at least one of the aforementioned dispersants, and the rest of the components being incorporated before the grinding operation, during it or afterwards, in such a way that the process is carried out that produces a preparation whose particle size is less than 10 microns and in particular less than 2 microns.
