Abstract

Method for improving the gelling characteristics of explosive water-bearing compositions comprising at least one oxygen-releasing, water-soluble, inorganic salt; at least one fuel; and from 5 to 35% by weight of water, characterized in that it comprises reacting said explosive composition under gel-forming conditions with 0.1 to 5% by weight of said composition of at least one organ-metal complex, prepared by a process comprising the steps of: 1.) reacting in polymerizing conditions a first water-soluble monomer with at least one second monomer, characterized by the fact that it has a group capable of reacting with a metal ion, or that it can be converted into a form capable of reacting with a metal ion, optionally in the presence of at least a second material selected from the group consisting of monomers that are only sparingly soluble in water and polymeric material, for a time sufficient to form a soluble copolymer to the less in part in an aqueous medium; and 2.) forming a complex by reacting the copolymer thus obtained with a metal ion until an organo-metal complex is obtained.
