Abstract

Process for preparing explosive compositions packable in gelled, friable, water-carrying paper cartridges, characterized in that it comprises mixing: at least one water-soluble, inorganic, oxygen-releasing salt; at least one fuel; and between 5 and 35% by weight of water, and gel the mixture with between 0.1% and 5% by weight of said composition of at least one complex prepared by the steps of: (1) reacting, under polymerization conditions, a first water-soluble monomer with at least one second monomer characterized in that it bears a group capable of reacting with a metal ion that can be converted into a form capable of reacting with a metal ion, optionally in the presence of at least one additional material, selected from the group consisting of polymeric material and water-soluble monomers, for a time sufficient to form a copolymer that is at least partially soluble in an aqueous medium; and (2) forming a complex by reacting the copolymer obtained with a redox system or with a product or products derived therefrom, comprising at least one metal ion.
