Abstract
A method of manufacturing a wet deposited sheet, characterized in that said method comprises the steps of: (1) suspending from about 10 to 70 parts by weight of said cationic wood powder particles and from about 30 to 90 parts by weight, of said cationic leather fibers in a larger amount of water to form an aqueous suspension, (2) add to said suspension a quantity of aqueous, anionic, anionic, elastomeric latex, sufficient to make the solids content of said resulting suspension let it be 30-80% by weight of particulate anionic elastomeric polyurethane latex solids, (3) flocculating said anionic, elastomeric polyurethane latex solids on the surfaces of said cationic wood powder particles and said fibers of cationic leather, while said wood dust particles and said leather fibers are kept in suspension in said aqueous suspension, (4) deposi Taring the aqueous suspension from step (3) onto a foraminous surface that retains the solids from said suspension while allowing the water from said suspension to drain away from said solids, and (5) drying the resulting wet deposited sheet.
