Abstract

Method for splicing the edges or selvedges of layers of rubber-coated reinforcing fabrics with each other, characterized in that it comprises the steps of putting said edges or selvedges to be spliced keeping a contiguous relationship; contacting said edges or selvedges with an ultrasonic impulse generating device; inducing pressure in said edges or selvedges, distributing said pressure evenly over said edges and selvedges and subjecting said edges to ultrasonic vibrations by putting said ultrasonic impulse generating means into operation, thereby heating the rubber in said edges or selvedges of the layers causing said rubber to flow and homogenize to form a strong joint.
