A method of producing a composition based on an organic ester and an aliphatic alcohol, useful for treating drug addiction or alcoholism, which comprises mixing from about 5 to 30% by volume of an organic ester having the formula RO- R', where R and R' are, independently of one another, alcohol radicals containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, phenyl radicals, benzyl radicals or salicylic radicals, with about 0.1 to 3% by volume of a aliphatic alcohol of the formula CH3 (CH2) nCH2OH, where n is one of the integers 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, in a non-toxic vegetable oil vehicle, and heating the mixture to convert a part of the alcohol aliphatic in the corresponding aliphatic hydroperoxide.
