Improvements in cellular grid structures for nuclear reactor fuel elements, characterized in that it comprises band means, of generally uniform width, which circumscribe the grid structure, retainers of said band means that protrude towards the cellular structure; a plurality of generally parallel flat grating plates, each having transverse ends abutting the band means and having widths greater than the width of the band means; and an additional plurality of generally flat grating plates, having transverse ends abutting the band means and having widths greater than the width of the band means, said plurality of additional plates intersecting with the plurality of plates mentioned in firstly, to form the cellular grid structure, the edges of said intersecting plates having butted edges inclined surfaces that match the widths of said plates with the width of said band means, said inclined surfaces extending towards the cellular structure and in the direction contrary to said gang means.
