Abstract
Procedure for obtaining an extract of the bark of Anarcardium occidentale L, with antihypertensive action, characterized in that a) the ground bark is subjected to at least one extraction with petroleum ether; b) after removal of the petroleum ether, the remaining insoluble residue is subjected to at least one extraction with diethyl ether; c) after removal of diethyl ether, the remaining insoluble residue is subjected to at least one extraction with a solvent chosen from the group consisting of ethanol, methanol, mixtures of these alcohols with each other and with water; d) after removal of the insoluble residue, followed by obtaining a dry extract by concentrating the soluble fraction according to c) under vacuum, said dry extract is dissolved in the water and the antihypertensive active ingredient is collected by precipitation with a reagent chosen from the group consisting of alkaloids and shell dust.
