Abstract
Procedure for manufacturing a positive electrode for lead-acid accumulators, characterized in that it comprises the steps of (a) providing an electrically conductive lead alloy grid, (b) forming a paste of positive active material by mixing 0.01 to 1 part by weight of amorphous silica with 100 parts by weight of active material comprising a mixture of lead and lead oxide, after which this combination of silica and active material of lead oxide is mixed with 23 to 28 parts by weight of acid aqueous sulfuric per 100 parts by weight of lead oxide active material, thereby forming a thixotropic paste, (c) applying said paste to the grid and (d) curing and drying the active material to produce a positive electrode it has a porosity of 50 to 55%.
