Improvements in obtaining a sensitive explosive composition that comprises a liquid mass substantially balanced in oxygen that is detonated by itself, and that includes an organic liquid that has substantial fuel value and that has an oxidizing salt dissolved therein, said salt comprising at least a greater proportion of a perchlorate chosen from the group consisting of ammonium perchlorate, alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, in which said perchlorate remains substantially completely dissolved in the liquid mass at the preparation temperature and also at the temperature of use, said liquid body containing tiny trapped gas bubbles and having a density of at least 1.0 grams per cubic centimeter.
