Abstract
A striking mechanism for striking a piezo-electric body in a piezo-electric ignition device including a piezo-electric body; an envelope carrying a pair of opposing coupling portions on its side walls; a hammer supported in said casing at a certain distance from said piezo-electric body to strike the latter and having a slot-shaped opening; a spring-loaded pin disposed in said slot-shaped opening of said hammer and being coupled with said pair of opposing coupling portions in said casing to keep said hammer away from said piezo-electric body; a manipulator for manipulating said hammer in order to apply a shock to said piezo-electric body and having a portion adapted to engage with said pin in order to move it transversely in said slot-shaped opening along said pair of portions opposite couplings and a striking force storage spring disposed between said spring and said manipulator and which is compressed when said transverse movement of said pin occurs to store the striking force in it and a spark gap formed on top of the movable nozzle and electrically connected in series with said piezo-electric body.
