Abstract

Novel compounds of Formula I wherein R is C 1-5 alkyl and salts, esters and amides thereof are prepared by reduction of a compound of Formula II optionally followed by formation of a stated derivative by known means. Intermediates of Formula II above e.g. the 4([alpha]-oximinoethyl)-compound are prepared by oxime formation. 4 - Acetylbicyclo[2.2.2]oct - 2 - ene - 1 - carboxylic acid is prepared from 4-carbomethoxybicyclo[2.2.2] - oct - 2 - ene - 1 - carboxylic acid chloride by reaction with Mg in ethanol and hydrolysis in situ of the triester produced. The previously mentioned acid chloride is prepared by action of SOCl 2 on the required free acid. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for oral or parenteral administration and having anti-fibrolinolytic activity comprise an above novel compound and a carrier therefor. A method of treating haemorrhagic conditions in animals by administering an above novel compound is also claimed.
